i’ve come up with a new plan. i would rather take extra time planning my meals and workout schedule for the day ahead than taking time to upload pictures of every last morsel i consume. so i’ll post each day’s plan and post pictures of interesting, original or particularly photogenic food throughout the day as i see fit. hopefully this will work, it seems like a plan i can stick to so i’m excited about it… at least for now.

i’m back. i had a fantastic weekend, food-wise and otherwise :)
i think i like keeping away from the computer on the weekends, i’m on it all day everyday at the office so it’s nice to just be and enjoy everything else while i can. i’ll continue to take pictures of all my meals but i don’t think i will blog after each one like i do during the week.
saturday was my idea of a perfect day. i was so good with my food choices, too! it went like this:
-workout (jazzercise)
-farmer’s market
-errands
-lay out by the pool
-shopping
-dinner at a friend’s house
-chic night out with a different friend who was in town for the weekend
-in bed late BUT got to sleep in :)
here are the food pics

with morning workouts i find myself having breakfast in two parts. i’m still trying to strike a good balance of nutrients and calories to maximize the benefits of this. some days are better than others…

fresh sun-dried tomato goat cheese

homemade salsa

homemade turkey burger on an ezekiel sprouted grain bun

<INSERT FAVORITE SUNDAY SONG HERE>

i baked these from hungry girl’s recipe

yup i ate them all!

lies, i only ate this one.

and this one :)

weekend June 2, 2008

saturday morning i had a smoothie before working out. i put a cup of nonfat milk with half a frozen banana and a cup of frozen peaches. it was so think and frozen, like a milkshake! of course i added the customary 1/2tbsp. of flax oil, too. total was 253 calories. i drank it on the way to my saturday morning jazzercise super-workout.

the rest of my food choices were kind of a blur because i just grazed a lot. i tend to do that on weekends… i’m not super proud of it but i’ll be reevaluating my habits and tweaking what i can for maximum energy and weight loss until the big beach vacation (BBV) in july. i really want to look my very best, of course, but i also want to win the $100 :)
here are some food highlights from the weekend so i can catch up:
i made the hungry girl peanut butter fudge with pumpkin and it was delicious! i’ll definitely make it again. it was a big hit at home with the fam, too. i had three squares with coffee and toast.
Photobucket
salad for lunch before we hit the road to grandma’s:

at my cousin’s baby shower i had a lot of fruit and some bites of pretty much everything else except the pasta salad and the slaw dishes.
this tuna salad was my favorite and i paired it with some cantaloupe wedges:
Photobucket
really yummy cake for dessert (loaded with sugar, i’m sure):
Photobucket
an artfully sliced strawberry:
Photobucket
breakfast sunday: an over-easy egg on toast with some laughing cow spread.
Photobucket
chicken taco for lunch with grandma’s highly caloric cheesy frijoles :)
Photobucket
some more baby shower cake :/

and i’m spent.

two good things about this morning: my workout was awesome AND there was an us magazine waiting in the mailbox when i finally got back to the condo :)
from 7 to about 750 this morning i did a jazzed up version of circuit training. squats, weights, resistance bands, etc. all set to contemporary music. good times.
from 8 to 9 it was a regular jazzercise class with a lot of high-energy routines, i definitely got my cardio in for the day! myfitnesspal gives me a whopping 747 calories burned for 110 minutes of exercise. not bad at all. i love my saturday morning workout. i would have no reason to wake up on a saturday if i didn’t have someplace to be as important. if i skip it and sleep in, before i know it half of my day is gone!
breakfast was the same as yesterdays except with vanilla soymilk and toasted almonds.
ab 5-24-08 bf01
then i got carried away (because i was at my parents house) and had an oatmeal raisin cookie with coffee and soymilk.
ab 5-24-08 bf02
my tummy is very full now and i ate exactly as many calories as i burned off at jazzercise.
on my way back home i stopped at whole foods to pick up some things so i can make hummus, pesto sauce and coconut-almond granola. that’s my next adventure in the kitchen so we’ll see how it goes.

pre and post workout May 23, 2008

about half an hour before class started i had these raisins
aa 5-23-08 sn01

which is another food that has eluded me until now (see peanut butter) but i read somewhere that they make a great pre-workout snack and i was sold. these are also organic of the newman’s own variety. i’m pretty sure that’s what makes them taste better than the raisins i remember from my youth. myfitnesspal puts a quarter cup of these at 130 calories.

after working up a sweat at jazzercise for an hour (burning approximately 354 calories), i came straight home so i could eat (natch) and even forgot to stop to deposit my paycheck! i ate first, then ran out before the bank closed. hungry girl must eat before she finds herself at paradise bakery ordering a chocolate chip cookie.
aa 5-23-08 sn03

it was a quarter cup of cashews and three turkey rolls with one string cheese divided up and rolled into the center of each slice for a grand total of 320 very satisfying calories. too many for a post-workout snack though, next time maybe only two tablespoons of cashews and two turkey rolls. i need a little wiggle room for dinner calories.

the jazzercise instructor always congratulates us for going to class on friday afternoons. like i have something better to do at 430 pm on a friday, psh. besides, this weather is not conducive to going outdoors. it feels like christmas out there. you know, rainy and cold (in the 60s, brrr)! luckily the sun is supposed to come out this weekend. i need to catch up on my tan so i’ll be looking forward to the sun reappearing after this awkward and random hiatus.
