before lunch at around 1145 i had a handful of honey-sesame cashews

then Dad and I went to lunch. here he is on the phone

he was so excited about his coke in a glass bottle. supposedly it tastes better. i wouldn’t know, i haven’t drunk (drank?) coke since the 90s. he also had a chardonnay with his food and another glass with dessert. i had an iced tea to start and a viognier with my food

my sandwich was really good, i might have to re-create this

it was portobello mushrooms with tomato and potato. i ate a lot of the waffle fries, too. the other side to this dish was fresh fruit which i also enjoyed. then i ordered a key lime tart for dessert which Dad split with me

it was good eats for sure but i should have gone slower because i was super full afterwards and i hate that too-full feeling. looking back, i didn’t need that many french fries. and i could have had the inside of the other half of the sandwich without the bread (which was a bit dry to begin with, but still good). possibly skipped the wine? nah…
now i’m going to change into my workout clothes and go to jazzercise! i’m pretty excited, i can’t wait to dance up a sweat, my body is definitely craving it. then i’m going to see mamma mia with my mom and sister. should be a good night…

a nutty surprise June 2, 2008
not really a surprise because i packed it this morning but i did have to modify what i actually ate from what i brought with me. i had planned on eating the almond butter on wasa crackers but it would have put me over my carb count for the day and then i would have just been disappointed. so i ate a tablespoon of almond butter right off the spoon with 1oz. of cashews and a prune. it was a modest snack because i’m going to a girl’s night out tonight to watch sex and the city again and we’re going to dinner at a fabulous mexican restaurant first. i looked at the menu online and there seem to be plenty of healthier options, based on what i know about the ingredients they listed. i’m almost positive i’m going to get a salad and eat half of it. i need more protein and good fat to round out my day. let’s see how i can do…
here’s snack, it was 211 calories.

i can’t wait for tonight, it’ll be a nice change from the regular monday night lineup. no workout today though, so i must take extra care with dinner. i don’t want the scale to be mad at me in the morning (or vice versa).
pre and post workout May 23, 2008
about half an hour before class started i had these raisins

which is another food that has eluded me until now (see peanut butter) but i read somewhere that they make a great pre-workout snack and i was sold. these are also organic of the newman’s own variety. i’m pretty sure that’s what makes them taste better than the raisins i remember from my youth. myfitnesspal puts a quarter cup of these at 130 calories.
after working up a sweat at jazzercise for an hour (burning approximately 354 calories), i came straight home so i could eat (natch) and even forgot to stop to deposit my paycheck! i ate first, then ran out before the bank closed. hungry girl must eat before she finds herself at paradise bakery ordering a chocolate chip cookie.

it was a quarter cup of cashews and three turkey rolls with one string cheese divided up and rolled into the center of each slice for a grand total of 320 very satisfying calories. too many for a post-workout snack though, next time maybe only two tablespoons of cashews and two turkey rolls. i need a little wiggle room for dinner calories.

the jazzercise instructor always congratulates us for going to class on friday afternoons. like i have something better to do at 430 pm on a friday, psh. besides, this weather is not conducive to going outdoors. it feels like christmas out there. you know, rainy and cold (in the 60s, brrr)! luckily the sun is supposed to come out this weekend. i need to catch up on my tan so i’ll be looking forward to the sun reappearing after this awkward and random hiatus.
